Zee Marathi

Zee Marathi (Marathi:झी मराठी) is India-based satellite television channel, which carries broadcasts in Marathi. Zee Network, India's leading infotainment network launched it in the year 1999. It is most popular television channel in Maharashtra acorss any language. It also attracts significant viewership in other states and even outside India.

Zee Marathi, the premium Marathi channel in Maharashtra was launched in the year 1999. When it was launched, its name was Zee TV Marathi. Later it was renamed as Alpha Marathi. Finally in 2006, it was named as Zee Marathi.Since its' inception, the channel has formed an integral part of a maharashtrian's life, through its different genre of programs like daily soaps, game shows, talk shows, cookery, travel shows, news, films etc.

Some of the shows on the channel; widely appreciated by the viewers are Abhal Maya, Avantika, Shriyut Gangadhar Tipre, Vaadalwaat, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Un Paus, Asambhav, Prapanch, 405 Anandwan etc. These shows have contributed in developing a wide base of loyal audience for Zee Marathi.

Zee Marathi also has many significant initiatives to its ' credit - the Zee Gaurav Awards is the one of the most coveted award for the recognition of the best talent in the Marathi film & theatre industry.

Introduced in 2003, was the Zee Marathi Awards, a viewers' choice award for voting for the best talent on the channel.This award function encourages artists and production houses in conceiving and delivering the best form of entertainment for it's viewers. Men and women from all walks of life and across all ages come forward to vote for their favorite artists through, internet, sms and printed forms distributed through cable operators.

Mahacinema, the premiering of mega Marathi films on the channel once every month is yet another premium program developed by the channel. So far, some of the major titles shown under the banner of Mahacinema are - Shwaas, Aga Bai Arrecha, Aai, Saatchya Aat Gharat, etc.

Now with the launch of a new movie channel called Zee Talkies, number of movies shown of Zee Marathi are reduced. Also the daily soaps are being shown 6 days a week.

Nakshatranche Dene, is a program aimed at paying tribute to the connoisseurs OF classical music, by the young and talented artists. This program has not only managed to sustain the faith of the classical music lovers but has managed to inculcate deep interest in our culture and heritage among our younger audiences.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is a popular talent hunt show which provides a platform to new singers.

Ekapekhsha Ek Dance Masti is a new programme which will start on 19th December 2007 is again a talent hunt show for dancers.

In lieu of its' integral presence among its viewers the channel proclaims with pride - "Me Marathi, Zee Marathi!"

Zee Marathi used to carry news headlines at the top of every hour, apart from a couple of half-hourly bulletins in the morning and evening slots. Now Zee News Ltd. has launched a separate 24-hour Marathi news channel called Zee 24 Taas (meaning '24 hours'). It is the first Marathi channel giving round-the-clock news.
