Zanjeer (Devanagari: ज़ंजीर, Nastaliq: زنجیر, translation: Shackles), is a film from India starring Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan (his real-life wife), Pran and Ajit. The movie changed the trend from romantic films to action films and pioneered Amitabh's new image of a brooding but explosive person who fights back when cornered. He was now known as "The Angry Young Man." The film became a "superhit" at the box office.[1]

The world erodes around Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan), an honest police officer. He is jailed for 6 months on false charges, trapped by gang leader Teja (Ajit). When Vijay is released from jail, he plans to take revenge.
