Yalamanchali Venkata Satyanarayana Chowdary (born May 23) is a popular Telugu film director. His screen name is YVS Chowdary. His latest movie Devadasu was a huge hit.

Born in Gudiwada, Chowdary spent most of his childhood there. His father was a lorry owner and driver. His mother was from Bhatlapenumarru of krishna district in the State of Andhra Pradesh and is a house wife

Chowdary directed 6 films. All of them were hits. Before becoming a director, he was an assistant director for K. Raghavendra Rao.

YVS Chowdary was a passionate movie lover and ardent fan of NTR before he entered Tollywood. He started the trend of making films with new star cast with Nagarjuna's home production SSRKCR. He directed actors such as Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu, before starting his home production house 'Bommarillu' and delivering the super hit in the form of Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo.
