Dr. William R. Brody is the current President of the Johns Hopkins University, a position which he has held since 1996. He was the highest-paid university president in the United States, receiving $897,786 in 2004, and regained the title in 2007. Brody received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, the latter also in electrical engineering, from Stanford University.
Brody is also a certified commercial pilot and flight instructor.
He serves as a director of Medtronic, an international medical device company.
He is a personal friend of Michael R. Bloomberg, current mayor of New York City, who often gives financial support to the university as an alumnus.
With his wife, Wendy, he has two children: Ingrid and John. Brody is a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity.
