[edit] Overview
A Philippine version was once aired on Associated Broadcasting Company (ABC) from 2001 to 2002. It was hosted by Rustom Padilla and Victoria Wonderheim.
The format was generally the same as the US version. Round 1 begins with Player 1, Round 2 with Player 2, Round 3 with Player 3, Round 4 with Player 1 and so on. Players retain control of the wheel as long as they guess letters correctly. Vowels cost 500 pesos (hence 1,000 being the lowest value on the wheel). Also, calling a correct letter earned the Free Spin wedge and the Surprise and Prize wedges. There was no Jackpot Round or Mystery Round in this version.
[edit] 2008 remake
On December 9, 2007, a teaser was shown in ABS-CBN during the commercial break of the coverage of the Mayweather-Hatton fight. It involves a puzzled under the category "New Kapamilya Game Show" and a letter "F" is shown. The end of the teaser showed 2008, which means the show is expected to air sometime in that year. More teasers were aired, revealing more letters that would eventually spell the name of the show.
Another advertisment seemingly for the show is a want ad for a letter revealer (the role Vanna White plays in the parent US show). It shows three women showing different ways of clapping as if doing so while the Wheel is being spun.
A third advertisment invites viewers to join the show through text messaging.
On January 4, 2008, it was announced in a news item on TV Patrol World that Kris Aquino will host the second Philippine version, making her the first female international counterpart of US version main host Pat Sajak.
