Waqt (Hindi: वक़्त, Urdu: وقت) is a 1965 Indian film directed by Yash Chopra. It made it onto BFI's long list of films in consideration for their top ten award.[1] It was produced by B.R. Chopra and starred an ensemble cast including Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Shashi Kapoor, Sadhana, Balraj Sahni, Madan Puri, Sharmila Tagore, Balraj Sahni, Achala Sachdev and Rehman.
It pioneered the concept of films with multiple stars, starting a trend followed by other films.[2] The film took the top spot at the box office in 1965.[3]. The plot is standard. A happy family separated by waqt (time), goes through a series of trials trying to reunite.
The film contains the popular Hindi song "Aage Bhi Jaane Na Tu" sung by Asha Bhosle.

This is the story of a family who has everything, money, fame, power. Lala Kadarnath has 3 sons who's birthday is on the same day. So as they do every year, they hold a grand party. There is a well known astrologer at the party. For all the guests' pleasure, Lala Kadarnath has his palm read by the astrologer. He predicts harsh times for him, but Lala Kadarnath pays no mind and laughs at him. At the end of the day when all the guests have gone home, Lala Kadarnath proclaims to his wife that he wants them to be even richer. As he talks of the day when people call shout after his car "there goes Lala Kadarnath!!!!", there is a sudden earthquake and the whole town is at ruins. When Lala Kadarnath gains conscience, his house is destroyed and his family is gone. Their oldest son Raju gets sent to an orphanage where the manager beats him a lot. Their middle son Ravi is found on the road by a rich couple who takes him to their home to raise him as his own. Their littlest son, who is still an infant, is with his mother Laxmi but they wander around looking for Lala Kadarnath and the rest of their family. She eventually gets a job and finds a place to stay but is barely scraping along. Lala Kadarnath finally comes to the orphanage where Raju is and is happy to see that he is in there records. As he quickly goes to take him with him, he finds out that Raju ran away that very day because of his constant beatings. When Lala Kadarnath is told this, he strangles they manager for touching his son. The manager dies and Lala Kadarnath is sent to jail. The rest of the story is pretty much about how all three brothers are so close together but they do not realize that they are related. In the end, the family reunites and they reopen their business and live happy ever after.
