Vivicide is the annihilation of any and all forms of life on a planet in simultaneous genocide of every species. The traditional source of such wide scale destruction is a religious apocalypse, such as the Revelation of St. John the Divine or Ragnarok.

In more recent times the primary influence has been from the realm of science fiction and fantasy, where a planet may be rendered uninhabitable through orbital bombardment, nuclear warfare, chemical warfare, or other methods of thorough sterilization.
