Coordinates: The biggest state assembly constituency in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Villivakkam covers an area from Annanagar in south and Madavaram in north, Ayanavaram in east and Korattur in west. Since this is within the Chennai City limits and close to Integral Coach Factory & Ambattur Industrial Estate, many people have migrated and settled in Villivakkam.

There are three temples in villivakkam which holds a very good history behind and are renowned for its traditional, spiritual and cultural heritage. They are as follows, Agatheeswerar Temple, BaaliAmman Temple and Soumiya Damodara Perumal Temple. The Masjid -eh -Rahmaniya Mosque and The Sacred Heart Church in Srinivasa Nagar are also places worth visiting. The presence of these places of worship and the annual fests celebrated there, exhibits the secular and humanitarian nature of the people of Villivakkam to the world.

[edit] Road
JN Road (100 feet Road) and MTH Road (NH 205) junction, connects Chennai and other town through one side and KHR and New Avadi Road to the other side, reaching Villivakkam by road is very easy form any part of Chennai.
There is a Metro Transport Bus terminus, which runs frequent services to other part of the City.

Chennai suburban railway station at Villivakkam is between the segment of Chennai Central and Arakkonam Junction, and just 10Km from Central, there are Suburban services to Central, Beach, Mylapore and Annanagar, Avadi , Tiruvallur, Arakkonam. The link from Chennai to Arakkonam junction is the oldest rail in South India.

Children at Villivakkam have a plenty of well established Schools to cater to their educational needs. The Singaram Pillai Mat.Hr.Sec.School is one of the oldest and famous schools in Villivakkam having students from diverse backgrounds and from ambient areas. Here Education is offered at an affordable price. There are many more schools to add such as ICF H.S.SCHOOL, M A Krishnaswamy Matric Hr. Sec school, DON BOSCO MATRICULATION HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL at Srinivasa Nagar,John Williams Matriculation School,Our Lady of velanganni Mat Hr Sec School,St.Thomas Primary School, Good will Mat.Hr.Sec.School, ST.Johns and Padma saranga pani which imparts all forms of good education that is needed to make children as full fledged individuals. On a special mention Don Bosco Mat.Hr.Sec.School and St.Johns encourage their students for a wide scope of co-curricular activities and these schools do also produce toppers in the Public Examinations held every year.

There are few entertainment cine halls present, like Royal (now changed as multiplex with four theaters) , Nathamuni, Ganga(near to villivakkam) and few others.
The ground in Singaram pillai School, and V- Ground between the rail tracks and grounds in ICF very famous for boys and girls play football, cricket and other sports. The Tennis court at Singaram pillai school offers high quality coaching to the boys and girls.

SBI ATM Near Spencer daily, And ING Vysya Bank and ATM in Opp. to Villivalkam police station. All leading banks(public sector and private) have ATMs in Anna Nagar too.

Heathcare needs are catered to by hospitals like Mohan Reddy Nursing Home, Kaveri Trust Hospitals, Nirmal Poly Clinic, Leela raj Mternity Clinic and the DRJ hospitals. On a special note the famous Paediatrician Dr.Anandaraj resides in villivakkam offering the people in and around the best healthcare service in paediatrics. I.C.F Hospital located near the ICF terminus offers good quality of health services to the family members of I.C.F employees.

SIDCO NAGAR is the biggest residential area organised by CMDA. Sweet water, good roads, shoppings medical facilities, temples, mask, church play ground, schools and all kind of facilities available in this area. Around 3000 houses and 5000 families available.
BABA NAGAR is another biggest residential area organised by CMDA. Good schools, railway station , sweet water, good roads, shoppings medical facilities, temples, mask, church play ground and all kind of facilities available in this area.
North Jagannatha Nagar is located very close to Villivakkam railway station. People living in this nagar feel like trains are one of their family members as they got so used to hearing the trains moving regularly near their houses. This is a nagar where most of the highly educated people have settled and hence this was the place in Villivakkam where the houses were constructed like a model houses in Anna Nagar and Adyar.
Thirunagar is in between Annanagar railway station and Nadhamuni theater, adjacent to furnishing division of i.c.f.
