Van Nest, Bronx

Van Nest is a neighborhood in the Bronx borough of New York City in the United States. It occupies the southwestern corner of the Morris Park section of the Bronx, and is bounded by Bronxdale Avenue, the Amtrak/Metro-North tracks, East Tremont Avenue, and the Bronx River Parkway. Most of the residents are Italian American, African American, and Hispanic, with some Albanian immigrants as well. It is an older and markedly poorer section of mainly middle-class Morris Park, bordering on the desolate, inner-city West Farms section of the South Bronx.
Television personality Regis Philbin is originally from Van Nest. The block of Cruger Avenue on which he lived has been renamed in his honor.
