Valya Samvelyan

Valya Samvelyan (Armenian: Վալյա Սամվելյան) was a popular Armenian female folk-singer.

She started her artistic career at Soviet samodeyatelnost (self activity) but than she won the competition by Yerevan Radio and became a solo-singer of the Ensemble of Folk Instruments of Radio of Armenia.

Among the most popular songs in her interpretation were "Anushik Im Quyrik", "Antsar Aygus Nayelov", "Zov Gisher" and "Shorora" by Sayat-Nova, gusan Sheram, Alexey Ekimyan and others.

She died by a car accident.

Her son Ara Gevorgyan is the producer of her poshumous "Toghetsir indz menak" (You did let me alone) and "Anushik im quyrik" (My sweet sister) albums[1].
