[edit] Biography
[edit] Early life
Perrine was born in Galveston, Texas, to Kenneth Perrine, a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army, and Winifred McGinley, a dancer who appeared in George White Scandals.[1] Owing to her father's career, Perrine lived in many locations as the family moved to different posts.
[edit] Career
Perrine began her career as a Las Vegas showgirl. She made her motion picture debut with an uncredited part in Diamonds Are Forever (1971). She played soft-core porn actress Montana Wildhack in Slaughterhouse-Five (1972) and Carlotta Monti in W.C. Fields and Me (1976). Her most famous movie role is perhaps Miss Eve Teschmacher in Superman (1978) and Superman II (1980).
Perrine was photographed as a model for a pictorial layout in the May 1972 issue of Playboy magazine, and appeared on the cover in August 1981.
Perrine became the first woman to display (on purpose) her nipples on American network television during the May 4, 1973 broadcast of Steambath on Hollywood Television Theater on PBS. She was seen taking a shower from the side. Only a few PBS stations were adventurous enough to carry the program.
In 1975, Perrine was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress and the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture Actress (Drama) and won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role as Honey Bruce in Lenny (1974). She was also nominated for the 1979 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress for Superman.
Perrine played Charlotta Steele in The Electric Horseman (1979), but her career grew uneven after she appeared in such movies as Can't Stop the Music (1980), for which she was nominated for a Razzie Award for Worst Actress. This film has since become a cult classic. In 1982 she played the role of Marcy, the wife of a corrupt police officer in The Border. Since then she has worked steadily in lower-profile projects.
