Unaru is a 1984 Malayalam film directed by film maker Mani Ratnam. The score and soundtrack is composed by Ilaiyaraaja, and the film's cinematography is by Ramachandra Babu. This movie has the distinction of being the first film of acclaimed director Mani Ratnam to be accepted by the public. The film gives the inside view of the problems arose is the labour trade union parties in Kerala. Filled with accliamed performances by all the major cast, it shows the social decomposition in Kerala due to the anti social activities of the heads of these trade unions.
