Tutu (album)

Tutu is an album released in 1986 by Miles Davis on Warner Bros. Records. Named in tribute of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, the first black Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, the album heavily utilizes electronic instruments and synthesizers. The track "Full Nelson" refers to Nelson Mandela. Miles had originally been planning to collaborate with Prince on the album, but this cooperation failed to materialize. It was produced by Tommy LiPuma and Marcus Miller, with Miller, who wrote almost all the songs, played almost all instruments and did almost all the arrangements, except George Duke, who wrote, played, arranged and co-produced "Backyard Ritual" (with Tommy LiPuma). "Perfect Way" is a cover of the original Scritti Politti song.
