"The Unforgiven II" is a song performed by Metallica. It was written by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett, and appears in the album ReLoad, as a sequel to "The Unforgiven" (which appears on Metallica's self-titled album).

It has been performed live only once: at a 1997 Billboard Awards when Metallica received the Artist of the Year award.

The star of the video is the same little boy from the original "The Unforgiven" video, in which he was about 7 years younger.[citation needed]

When asked the song's meaning by a fan, Hetfield replied, "Forgiving no one and ending up alone." [1] The lyrics also refer frequently to a "she", shown in this verse:

"...She loves me not, she loves me still,

But she'll never love again.

She lay beside me, but she'll be there when I'm gone.

Black heart scarring darker still, but she'll be there when I'm gone

Yes, she'll be there when I'm gone,

Dead sure she'll be there..."
