The Simpsons Movie: The Music is a soundtrack album for the 2007 film The Simpsons Movie. It was released on July 24 2007, by Adrenaline Music, with a limited edition version to be released on July 31 2007. It was composed by Hans Zimmer, who composed for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End at the same time. He told The Hollywood Reporter that he liked "using all his creative juices at once."[1] In addition to their appearance in the film, Green Day recorded their version of the "The Simpsons Theme",[2] and released it as a single. However, this song was not included on the album.

"Spider Pig" peaked at #24 in the UK Singles Chart, having risen eighty-three places from entry into the chart.[3] It has also reached #3 in the Irish Singles Chart, after debuting at #13.[4]

The soundtrack debuted #108 and #12 on the Billboard 200 and on the top Independent Album Charts, with sales of 6,500, then fell to #110 on the Billboard 200, but went to #10 on the Independent Charts with sales about the same. Then on week 3 it fell to 176 on the Billboard 200 with 4,000 copies sold that week. Then sold 2,500 a forth week, totaling 19,500 copies sold.

[edit] Music Composing

Hans Zimmer was chosen to compose the score, and he composed themes for each family. Danny Elfman, who wrote the theme for The Simpsons, may have been asked by Matt Groening, the film's writer/producer, but Elfman refused, as he only wanted to contribute to the theme.
