Tammy and the Bachelor is a 1957 romantic comedy film, the first of the four Tammy movies. It stars Debbie Reynolds as Tammy Tyree, Walter Brennan as Grandpa Dinwitty and Leslie Nielsen in an early role as Peter Brent. It was adapted from the book Tammy Out Of Time by Cid Ricketts Sumner.

Debbie Reynolds stars as Tammy in this romantic comedy of a country girl living in the South who cares for pilot Peter Brent (Leslie Nielsen) after his plane crashes near her home. At the beckoning of mutual admiration, Peter soon invites her to his plantation where she charms his family.
