South University is a small, private university located in Savannah, Georgia, with satellite campuses located in a number of cities in the southeastern United States.

Originally founded in 1899 as Draughon's Practical Business College by John Draughon, the name was changed in mid 1985 to South College, to reflect the acquisition of the institution by the family of John T. South, III. The name was later changed to South University to reflect the institution's accreditation to award degrees at the masters and doctorate level.

South University has campuses in Columbia, South Carolina, Montgomery, Alabama, Savannah, Georgia, Tampa, Florida, West Palm Beach, Florida, and online.

South University's Doctor of Pharmacy program is one of only three Schools of Pharmacy in the state of Georgia.[citation needed]

South University's Distance Education division has received recognition for academic excellence in distance education programs, most notably in the Information Technology and Criminal Justice programs.[citation needed]
