South Slavia

South Slavia is the English equivalent of the name Yugoslavia (Serbian-Montenegrin, Croatian, Macedonian, Bosnian and Slovenian : Jugoslavija) ('jugo' mean south and 'Slavija' meaning Slavia).

The country at first was called 'kingdom of the Serbs, Croats and Slovenes' it would later be called Jugoslavija because of its Slavic location. Over the years of it existence it was not realised as South Slavia in any English speaking countries, the name Yugoslavia was formed from the pronunciation of Jugoslavija The J's are pronounced as Y's in South Slavic countries
