A television channel spin-off from Discovery Communications,The Science Channel featues science-related television programmes. Its line of programmes cover all aspects of science, e.g. space, technology, prehistory and animals.

Launched in 1999 and originally named Discovery Science, its name changed to The Science Channel in 2002. A complete "makeover" took place the following year in April. The Science Channel soon started airing newer and more up-to-date television programming.

The Science Channel broadcast a number of science-related television series/films originally produced by or aired on The Discovery Channel, e.g. Beyond Tomorrow, among some others. There have also been a few television programmes produced for The Science Channel, such as MegaScience and What The Ancients Knew. Programmes from other Discovery Networks,PBS and BBC are either regularly or ocassinally aired. Television series produced in the 1990's e.g.Discover Magazine and Understanding can be watched during the weekdays.

As of December 2007, The Science Channel had its logo changed. It is now available on Dish Network and DirecTV. The Science Channel also has a High Definition (HD) simulcast, The Science Channel HD, also available on Dish Network and DirecTV. The Science Channel website is http://science.discovery.com/.

Additional Information: The Science Channel is transmitted in South East Asia, Europe, and Australia as Discovery Science.

The Science Channel HD is a high definition simulcast of The Science Channel that launched September 1, 2007. It is currently available on Dish Network, DirecTV and some cable providers.
