Sarah Purcell

Sarah Purcell (b. October 8 1948, Richmond, Indiana) is a well known talk show host, game show host and panelist.

She was co-host of The Better Sex (1977-1978), Real People (1979-1983), and The Home Show (1992-1994), and had guest appearances in several TV dramas. She also co-starred in the 1981 film Terror Among Us with Tracy Reed. She has appeared in a number of infomercials for health foods, appliances and skin care products.

From 1975 to 1983, she co-hosted what was then known as A.M. Los Angeles and what became "Live with Regis and Sarah" on KABC-TV with Regis Philbin. In the early 1990s, Purcell was also seen as an occasional panelist on the NBC game show, To Tell the Truth.

In 1993 during a segment of The Home Show about influenza vaccines, a physician mistakenly gave Gary Collins an injection with the same needle used on Purcell. Collins left during the show to undergo blood tests to determine his HIV and hepatitis status, which turned out to be negative.

Although Purcell had a lengthy television career, she later became concerned over the direction of television news and programming, and the hype and shock value marketing, and became an outspoken advocate urging the public to avoid watching too much television.^{[citation needed]}
