When a reporter is sent to cover the Challenger Space Shuttle launch, she soon becomes entangled in the lives of some local troubled students. The film has began filming on November 12, 2007, and expected to finish by early this year. Parts of the film are of John Oliver Secondary School, Vancouver B.C.

And all-star cast of spunky sisters, including Hilary Duff, Amanda Peet, Amber Tamblyn, and Amanda Seyfried (“Big Love”), will frontline “Safety Glass”, a new teenage drama set around the time of the space shuttle Challenger tragedy.

The film, written and directed by Johnathan Glatzer, will be seen through the eyes of a reporter whose sent to cover the Space Shuttle launch only to become mixed up in the lives of some local high schoolers.

Steve Coogan, who will play a role in the film, also serves as the executive producer.

The film will lens in New Hampshire and New York shortly

Mandy Moore was originally cast as Lucy. But after years of delay was replaced by Nellie McKay but she dropped out in 2005. Hilary Duff then replaced her.

Olivia Thirlby replaced Amber Tamblyn.

Josh Peck replaced Michael Angarano.

Amanda Seyfried replaced Kelli Garner.

Hilary talks about "Safety Glass" - a movie around the crash of shuttle Challenger. Hilary says it’s a coming-of-age story about students who come together for a drama class. Her character is popular and loves gossip. Hilary is enjoying exploring new roles and challenging herself with these roles.
