At one time there were two elementary schools in Rickreall. One was Oak Grove Elementary, and the other was Rickreall Elementary.[citation needed] As of 2003 Rickreall Elementary was shut down by the school district. Those that were currently attending were sent to Whitworth Elementary in Dallas Oregon. For a while, the school is owned by a church. As of 2007, ownership was changing but it was not going back to the Dallas School district.
Oak Grove Elementary belongs to the Independence School District while the Rickreall Elementary previously belonged to the Dallas School District. Oak Grove is currently not in operation as it was closed in the fall of 2005. The district remains the owner of the property and maintains it well. The district has no plans to sell this school, as they did Eola during the 1990s.
