Queensborough Community College (QCC), is one of six community colleges within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. It is located in the neighborhood of Bayside, Queens County, New York City, New York. It was originally a part of the State University of New York system but was transferred to CUNY in 1965. Its aim is to prepare students to attend senior colleges, mainly in the CUNY system. After two years of study one can receive an associate's degree. It offers degrees such as Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS), Associate in Applied Science (AAS), as well as providing continuing education programs. Queensborough is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.

[edit] The Campus

Queensborough is located in the suburban-like community of Bayside, Queens. Queensborough’s 34-acre campus consists of ten major buildings, which are used for instruction and extracurricular activities. Among them are an upcoming resource center, Holocaust studies, astronomy observatory, and art museum. The campus and its nearby resources reflect the suburban neighboorhood, meaning few transportation routes , lack of dining options ,etc which have been noted. However, this has not made the college unattractive for people to enroll in as people are attracted to its educational programs and don't really take the neighboorhood into account. Often people who start out at community colleges in general maybe older students, high school students who couldn't attend senior colleges due to low grades/needing remedial courses or not having the option to take tests , or for people who are undecided as to what to do and choose to finish at a community college before deciding where to transfer.link title
