Predicate or predication may refer to:

  • predicate (mathematics) — a relation, or the boolean-valued characteristic function or indicator function of a relation.
  • predicate (logic) — a fundamental concept in first-order logic.
    • in Bertrand Russell's theory of types — an act of typing: that is, assigning a type.
  • syntactic predicate — specifies the syntactic validity of applying a production in a formal grammar.
  • predicate (grammar) — the rest of a sentence apart from the subject.
  • predicate (computer programming) — an operator or function which returns a boolean value
    • branch predication — a choice to execute or not to execute a given instruction based on the content of a machine register.
  • in Resource Description Framework — a trait or aspect about that resource that is being described.
