Paul Kangas a former stockbroker with more than 12 years experience, is the Miami-based Anchor and Financial Commentator host of Nightly Business Report since it was a local Florida program in 1979. The show is still hosted from Florida, where he resides with his wife, Peni. Although he hosts the show that gives premier financial advice, he owns no stock.[citation needed]

Kangas was born in Houghton, Michigan and is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He entered the United States Coast Guard in 1960 or 1961 and served aboard the USCG Cutter Mackinaw. Later he served as Aide to the Admiral in command of the 9th Coast Guard District in Cleveland, Ohio. Paul completed his Coast Guard service in 1963 as a Lieutenant (Junior Grade). He earned his brokers license after studying at the New York University Stern School of Business. [1]

A popular segment on the show is "The Market Monitor", where Paul gets tips from the investment community. Some well-known market monitors have included Abby Joseph Cohen, Elaine Garzarelli and the author of the Dines report.

Kangas ends every broadcast by saying, "Wishing all of you the best of good buys!"
