Oltu
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Oltu (Armenian: Ւղթիկ (Ughtik) or Ւլթիկ (Ultik); Georgian: ოლთისი (Oltisi); Russian: Олти (Olti)) is a district of Erzurum Province of Turkey. It was historically considered to be part of the Tayk (or Tao-Klarjeti) region.
Though it may not be particularly well-known except to locals, Oltu is a place of high cultural significance: Oltu kebab, the "ancestor" of the well-known Döner kebab of today, was invented here.[citation needed]
