Washermanpet (Vannarapettai in Tamil) is a suburb of Chennai, in North Madras. The name comes from the fact that it used to be the washermen's enclave in Madras and where many of the city's dhobi ghats used to be located. Now it is a primarily residential area. Few of them are marwaris.
