Noord (Rotterdam)

Noord (North) is a district (wijk) of north Rotterdam, Netherlands also locally known as 'Oude Noorden' (Old North). The district has much pre World War I and World War II architecture still in existence. It has a vibrant though somewhat discreet artistic community. Among the most prominent are Konigin van de Maas and Willem de Kooning (April 24, 1904 – March 19, 1997).
