National Film Development Corporation of India

The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC) is the central agency established to encourage good cinema in India. The primary goal of the NFDC is to plan, promote and organize an integrated and efficient development of the Indian film industry and foster excellence in cinema. Over the years, NFDC has provided a wide range of services essential to the growth of Indian cinema. The NFDC (and its predecessor the Film Finance Corporation) has so far funded or produced over 300 films. These films, in various Indian languages, have been widely acclaimed and have won many national and international awards.
NFDC has produced many films and tried to bring changes in the country by producing many first-of-its-kind movies. A recent example could be the third ever Kashmiri feature film, which was produced by NFDC. The first two were made 38 years earlier than the last which was released in 2001. The film Bub ('father' in English) was directed by Jyoti Sarup. Bub won the National Award for the best film on national integration. Sarup had previously been the director of many episodes of Indian television's pioneering serial "Buniyaad".
In 2007, NFDC made 30 of its movies available online through Jaman, a movie download service focused on independent and world cinema. "Jaman.com and NFDC to jointly premiere 30 films online", 2007-01-06.
