Nandurbar District

Nandurbar is an administrative district in the state of Maharashtra in India. The district headquarters are located at Nandurbar. The district occupies an area of 5055 km² and has a population of 1,311,709 of which 15.45% were urban (as of 2001). [1]
Current site for the construction and operation of the world's largest wind farm having an output of 1000MW is just 30km away from Nandurbar city. This project is being undertaken by Suzlon Energy Ltd.. Suzlon also has local manufacturing units at site for WTG tower and blades.

The district comprises 6 talukas. These talukas are Akkalkuwa, Akrani Mahal (Also called Dhadgaon), Taloda, Shahada, Nandurbar and Navapur.
There are 5 Vidhan Sabha constituencies in this district. They are Navapur (ST), Nandurbar (ST), Taloda (ST), Akrani Mahal (ST) and Shahada. The only Lok Sabha constituency of the district is Nandurbar (ST).
Nandurbar is primarily a tribal (Adiwasi) district.
