Monachus schauinslandi |
Monachus is a genus (and a subgenus of the same name) of the Family Phocidae and the Order Pinnipedia and refers to the various monk seal species throughout the world. These include:
- the Hawaiian Monk Seal or Monachus schauinslandi (endangered)
- the Mediterranean Monk Seal or Monachus monachus (critically endangered)
- the Caribbean Monk Seal or Monachus tropicalis (extinct)
