Miroslav Filip

Miroslav Filip (born October 27 1928 in Prague) is an International Grandmaster of chess from the Czech Republic. He was awarded the title of International Master in 1953, the Grandmaster title in 1955. He was twice World Championship Candidate (1956 and 1962) and Czechoslovak champion in 1950 (joint), 1952 and 1954. Since the early 1980s Filip retired from playing professional chess, but remained active as a chess journalist.
