Originally titled Mere Bharat Mahaan (My India is Great), the film title was later changed to Heroes, to avoid making it sound as a patriotic film.[3] The film revolves around a group of students who study film-making together. They have been sent away to film a documentary, and so they go on a road trip. The students are trying to figure out the meaning behind the logo on every passing vehicle, which says, Mere Bharat Mahaan.[4]
Filming began on June 15, 2007. Salman and Preity are paired opposite each other, in their fifth film together.[5] Shooting has taken place in Ladakh [5] and Chandigarh, Punjab.[5][6] Some shooting also took place in Delhi.[7] Some scenes were shot in Pangong Tso featuring Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Vatsel Seth.[8]
