Martin Baron, known as Marty, is an American journalist who has been the editor of The Boston Globe since July 2, 2001, sparked by the retirement of the former editor, Matthew V. Storin.

Born and raised in Tampa, Florida c. 1955^[1], Baron graduated from Lehigh University.

Baron began working for the The Miami Herald in 1976, then moved to The Los Angeles Times in 1979 and to The New York Times in 1996. He returned to the Herald as chief editor in 1999.
