[edit] Biography
[edit] Personal life
Rendall was born in Toronto, Ontario to Cathy and Henry Rendall. He has two older brothers, David (an actor) and Matthew. His father is Jewish and his mother is Christian and he celebrates both Jewish and Christian holidays.[1]
[edit] Career
Rendall started acting at the age of ten, when he asked his parents if he could try his hand at acting. Fortunately, around the same time, the Cameron Maclntosh London touring production of the musical "Oliver" was holding auditions for children. He surprised everyone when he won the role of Spider and the lead role Oliver as the understudy (He surprised them because he had no training in acting or singing).
He starred in many other things later such as The Impossible Elephant, Tales from the Neverending Story (for which Mark received a 2002 Gemini nomination), the multi-award-winning Touching Wild Horses (2002) opposite Jane Seymour (for which Mark received a 2003 Young Artists Award nomination), Disney's The Scream Team with Eric Idle, the Court TV Peabody award-winning true story, The Interrogation of Michael Crowe for which Mark received a 2004 ACTRA Award nomination for Outstanding Performance - Male, Don McKellar's dark comedy Childstar (2004), opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eric Stoltz and Dave Foley; the title role in Spirit Bear: The Simon Jackson Story (2004) with Ed Begley, Jr. and Graham Greene, NBC's mini-series Revelations (2005) opposite Bill Pullman and Natascha MacElhone, and Francois Girard's Silk. Mark's voice is also well-known as he was not only the voice of Arthur (1996) for 3 seasons in the PBS animated series of the same name, but a lead voice in such animated TV King, Time Warp Trio, "Wayside" and Jane and the Dragon.
Rendall currently plays the role of Hawk in TV Series Revelations. He also appears in the TV movie Spirit Bear: The Simon Jackson Story. In his spare time, Mark enjoys juggling, playing guitar, photography, baseball and spending time with his pet sugar gliders -- tiny flying Australian marsupials. He also stars in Silk, which was released in 2007. Recently Rendall played the supporting roll in the film 30 Days of Night (film) opposite Josh Hartnett and Melissa George.
[edit] Voice acting
After Justin Bradley stopped voice acting for Arthur, Rendall took his place. Surprisingly, his voice was considered by fans to sound exactly the same as the voice Michael Yarmush provided for Arthur. It is still unknown his reason to stop voice acting on Arthur, some fans think because he had many roles in movies. Although, he still voice acts for the children's television series Time Warp Trio. But it is possible he thought it was a bigger role for himself. It has been rumored that he was in Arthur's Missing Pal, but nothing is official yet. Based on this reason, there are possibilities he'll be returning for the show. As for Time Warp Trio, there seems to be no reports that he won't be returning for the third season's batch of episodes.[citation needed] Arthur and Joe are two characters that Rendall has provided the voices for.
In 2005, he made it onto the Australian CGI animated show Jane and the Dragon as the voice of fourteen-year-old Jester. Again, there seems to be no reports that he won't be returning for the next batch of episodes for the third season of this show. He also lends his voice for Todd on the series Wayside which currently airs on Nickelodeon.
Rendall voices Jester in Jane and the Dragon and Cameron Ansell, who is the fourth and current voice actor for Arthur, also voices Prince Cuthbert in the same show. Cameron Ansell has also guest starred in Time Warp Trio as Thutmose.
