Manji

The word Manji is used for several things, including:

• The name Marco Polo used to refer to southern China, that is, that part of China that had recently been conquered by Kublai Khan. See Names of China.
• The Japanese name for a Buddhist and Hindu swastika, 卍.
• It is also the name of a novel by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki that was made into a movie [1] in 1964.
• The proper name of the protagonist from the popular manga series Blade of the Immortal.
• One of the Ragams of Carnatic music.
• A form of sai where one prong points toward the point of the weapon and the other toward the handle. The manji sai is a weapon used the Okinawan art of Kobudo, or okinawan weapon fighting. the manji uses its versatile prongs, facing both ways, to trip, claw, or even trap an opponents' arm, leg, or weapon. The handle of this weapon is also pointed, so the user may use both ends for a devastating blow to the opponent's pressure points.

Manji may also refer to:

• The Red Swastika Society, a voluntary philanthropic association founded in China in 1922.
• The Manji Party, an organization in the Tekken series of video games led by the ninja Yoshimitsu and the clan which the Soul Calibur Yoshimitsu was a part of and tried to avenge.
