[edit] History

The location of Lynbrook was originally called Bloomfield. It was later named Pearsall's Corner, after the general store. The village was incorporated in 1911.

The name "Lynbrook" is derived by dividing "Brooklyn" into its syllables and inverting them, a tribute to the original home of many of the town's turn-of-the-century residents. It is frequently called "Lynbrook, U.S.A.," in recognition of the fact that there is no other town in the United States with the same name. [1]
