Liam Barrington Connor is a fictional character from the ITV1 soap opera Coronation Street, played by Rob James-Collier since 2006.He is one of Michelle Connor's brothers, the less conniving, more friendly of the two.
He made a pass at Frankie Baldwin while she was playing darts in the Rovers with her former stepson Jamie and his girlfriend Violet Wilson. Liam arranged a date with Frankie but was stood up.
Sometime later, after misinformation from his sister, Liam was under the impression Frankie was a transsexual (he had mistaken her for Hayley Cropper). Liam tried to apologise but Frankie wasn't in the mood to hear it. They dated briefly until Frankie decided she had had enough of the childish squabling between Liam and Danny.
On September 10, 2006, Liam bought Adam Barlow's 40% share of Underworld for £80,000, which was significantly less than the original asking price of £150,000.
Liam's older brother, Paul, who funded the purchase, wasn't too happy as he would be going into partnership with Frankie's ex-husband, Danny Baldwin.
He took a shine to Maria Sutherland, and landed himself in hot water with Charlie Stubbs in October 2006. Charlie had Liam up against the wall, an action which Liam later told him he would regret one day.
Not long after this incident, Liam saved a threatened David Platt in the back of a van with an irate Charlie Stubbs.
[edit] Underworld
Liam and his brother Paul Connor conned Adam Barlow and bought Underworld for a very low price. He had a love/hate relationship with colleague Danny Baldwin although Liam did support him when Frankie left Danny in autumn 2006. When Danny mysteriously disappeared Liam was left in a state and didn't know what to do. He occassionly asked Hayley Cropper for help. In 2007 Jamie Baldwin accused Liam of telling Danny about the break up of him and Frankie although Liam had no contact with Danny since he had disappeared. The same day he received a phone call from Danny saying he got a new person to run the factory with Liam.
It turned out to be brother Paul Connor and Liam was furious. But Paul had lost the money that he had promised his money-grabbing wife Carla and after a dinner out with all the Connors, Liam told Carla. This led to a furious row between Paul and his wife.
[edit] Kasia's Death
Liam reluctantly played a part in the cover-up of the death of factory worker Kasia, under the instructions of conniving brother Paul.
There's no love lost between Liam and his sister-in-law, Carla. Liam often felt that Carla got in the way of his close relationship with brother Paul.
[edit] Digging up the Past
More recently, Liam confessed the truth to sister Michelle about the demise of her late partner, Dean. In an emotional showdown, Liam confessed that during the car accident which claimed Dean's life, Paul had been driving and was thus responsible for his death. Paul and Liam had plotted to move Dean's body to the driving seat to prevent Paul from facing criminal charges.
Michelle was horrified by Liam's confession and disowned both her brothers. But now appears friendly with Liam, but not Paul.

Liam has started a relationship with Leanne Battersby. Before that, Liam had a one-night stand with his employee Joanne Jackson, but they remained good friends. Leanne briefly quit her job as a prostitute for him, and there have been many signs that Liam is falling in love with her. However Leanne returned to prostitution and, on Monday June 4 2007, was kidnapped by Paul and hauled into the boot of his Mercedes. She was then put through a horrific ordeal whereby Paul drove at 105mph along a dual carriageway and came to a horrid end when after jumping a red traffic light at a crossroads near the Street he crashed into a skip lorry before the Mercedes overturned. Leanne, still in the boot, was rescued only when Liam and Janice arrived on the scene (Janice having been given a lift by a kindly Liam). In the hospital, Liam was later told by a drunken Carla that Leanne was a prostitute. He looked stunned with this unexpected piece of news. Paul didn't have a chance to tell Liam about Leanne's affair. He died the next day.
He has recently been left confused whether he does still feel something fo Leanne, but remembered how she had hurt him and moved on.
[edit] Maria or Carla?
Liam is currently in a relationship with the local hairdresser, Maria Sutherland. However, after kissing his sister-in-law Carla in the middle of a row - he became confused as she is also in another relationship with Tony Gordon.
As their relationship built up, on October 28th, Maria gave Liam a gift of a puppy called Ozzy.
Maria also revealed to employer Audrey Roberts that she was pregnant with the couples first child, it is unknown if she plans to terminate the child as the couple are only in their first stages of relationship.
[edit] Becoming a Dad
On November 28th, Maria revealed to Liam she was pregnant with his baby. He was shocked at the news but offered to support her, whatever she chose to do.
After Carla's boyfriend Tony's ex wife came around to the factory, hitting Carla and claiming that Tony was a liar and a cheat, Liam became very protective of Carla. He visited Lindsey, Tony's wife, who said he was controlling and manipulating. When he confronted Carla with this, she accused him of just being jealous. Liam was furious at this and stormed round to the salon, where he informed Maria he wanted to keep their baby and proposed to her.
[edit] Death Plunge
On January 4 2008, Liam and Maria decided to go on a New Year's mini break to the Lake District. However while they are there Liam falls down a ravine while trying to rescue Ozzy. Maria rushed off for help but she thought she may have lost him for good.
