Kislovodsk

Kislovodsk (Russian: Кислово́дск) is a city in Stavropol Krai, Russia. It lies in the North Caucasian region of Russia, between the Black and Caspian seas, at 43°54′N, 42°43′E. Population: 129,788 (2002 Census).

Kislovodsk (lit. Sour Waters) is named after the many mineral springs around the city of Narzan type. Kislovodsk is a spa town.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Kislovodsk was home to many musicians, artists, and members of the Russian aristocracy, including Nobel Prize winner Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and artist Nikolai Yaroshenko. Also, the events in the story A Hero Of Our Time by Mikhail Lermontov were set in Kislovodsk.

The closest airport is located in the city of Mineralnye Vody.
