Kingston is the capital of the Australian South Pacific Territory of Norfolk Island. Sights in Kingston include its cemetery, the ruins of the houses of military officers at Quality Row, and the historical chapel of St. Barnabas. It is also home to Emily bay, the only beach safe for swimming on Norfolk Island.

The settlement marks the landing point of Lieutenant Philip Gidley King and 22 settlers (including 9 male and 6 female convicts) on the 6 March 1788, less than 2 months after the establishment of the British colony of New South Wales.

The city is little more than an administrative hub and historical centre; the de facto capital is Burnt Pine.
