Kamayo is a minor language spoken in the area of Bislig City, in the Southern Philippines. It has 7,565 speakers (2000, WCD). An interesting word in Kamayo is "inday", which means literally "I don't know". This is interesting because, in Cebuano the same word is a generic term for a female, roughly like "gal" in English. In Standard Cebuano, the translation of the phrase "I don't know" is "Ambot". another interesting word is "hain", which means literally "where?", but in tagalog means "to make". the dialect "kamayo" varies from one municipality to another, Lingiganons are quite different from other municipalities on the way they speak the kamayo language.
Kamayo is also spoken in Lingig, Surigao del Sur; and in Cateel, Davao Oriental. It is related to Surigaonon and Butuanon.
