Japan Asia Airways, Co., Ltd. (日本アジア航空株式会社 Nihon Ajia Kōkū Kabushiki-gaisha?) is an airline subsidiary of Japan Airlines, based in Tokyo, Japan. It operates scheduled passenger and cargo services in support of Japan Airlines, connecting three Japanese cities with Taiwan. Its main base is Narita International Airport, Tokyo, with hubs at Chūbu Centrair International Airport, Kansai International Airport and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport.[1]
Following the implementation of a new Japan-Taiwan air agreement, Japan Asia Airways will cease operations on March 31, 2008, with all flights transferred to parent Japan Airlines.[2]

The airline was established on 8 August 1975 and started operations on 15 September 1975 It was formed to operate services between Japan and Taiwan, after the People's Republic of China threatened to deny JAL's proposed routes to the mainland over JAL's and Air China's reciprocal flights (see political status of Taiwan).

Japan Airlines will take over Taiwan services from 2008 with tactit approval from P.R China in light that Japan Airliens is no longer state-owned and Taiwanese aircraft have now landed in mainland China in cross-straits charters[1]. With this JAA brand will be phased out.

The airline also previously operated Boeing 767 aircraft (returned to Japan Airlines) and McDonnell Douglas DC-10 aircraft.[citation needed]
