Rev. Dr. Iyanla Vanzant is an inspirational speaker and New Thought spiritual teacher currently residing in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, United States. She is also a five time New York Times best-selling author for her work on the following books: Yesterday I Cried (Fireside, 2000), One Day My Soul Just Opened Up (Fireside, 1998) and In the Meantime (Fireside, 1999).
Besides her writing, she has also been involved in television. In 2001 she hosted her own short-lived talk show Iyanla.
Three years later, she joined Rhonda Britten on the television series Starting Over as a life coach. She replaced former life coach Rana Walker. Iyanla was known for being more spiritual in her coaching, and was often known for her calm and comforting approach to helping women deal with their issues. She was especially known for having her clients have what she would call "Fierce conversations" with those they loved.
Vanzant presently manages the Inner Visions Institute for Spititual Development she founded in Silver Spring, Maryland.
