Interstate 270 (I-270) is a 5.3-mile highway in the northeastern part of the Denver-Aurora Metropolitan Area. It overlaps (but is not signed as) U.S. Route 36 for its entire length.
The western terminus of I-270 is at the interchange with I-25 and US 36 at Welby, Colorado, which is part of the "Turnpike Tangle". I-270 connects directly to US 36 westbound, the main route to Boulder, Colorado via the former Denver-Boulder Turnpike.[1]
The eastern terminus of I-270 is at the interchange with I-70 in Denver, Colorado.
Apart from the two termini, the only crossing with another Interstate highway is the partial interchange with I-76 at Welby, Colorado, which is part of the "Turnpike Tangle".
The highway crosses through Commerce City, a near northeastern suburb of Denver, within which it has an interchange with US 6 and US 85.
