The IIFA Best Supporting Actress Award is chosen by the viewers and the winner is announced at the ceremony.
The award is given in the current year but the actress who wins it is awarded for the previous year, for example Rani Mukerji was awarded in 2005 but she is awarded for her work in the year 2004.
