[edit] History
The airline was established as CR Airways in 2001 and started operations on 5 July 2003. It was the first aircraft operator to receive its air operator's certificate since Hong Kong became a special administrative region of the People's Republic of China.[citation needed]
The airline changed its name to "Hong Kong Airlines Limited" (or Hong Kong Airlines) on 30 September 2006. It is owned by Robert Yip Kwong (51%) and Yu Ming Investments (4%).[1] In September 2006, Mr Mung Kin Keung bought all 55% from Mr Robert Yip and Yu Ming and becomes the major shareholder in Hong Kong Airlines
