Hokey Wolf
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hokey Wolf is a Hanna-Barbera cartoon that appeared on The Huckleberry Hound Show in 1960, filling the slot left by Yogi Bear.
Hokey Wolf (voiced by Daws Butler to sound like Phil Silvers) is a con-artist wolf who is always trying to cheat his way to the simple life. He is accompanied in this by his diminutive, bowler-wearing sidekick Ding-a-Ling Wolf (voiced by Doug Young to sound like Buddy Hackett).
[edit] Other appearances
Hokey Wolf appeared in four other Hanna-Barbera cartoon series:
- Yogi's Gang (1973-1975), in which he was a member of the crew.
- Laff-A-Lympics (1977-1979), in which he was a member of Yogi's team.
- Yogi's Treasure Hunt (1985), where he was a regular guest star.
- Yo Yogi! (1991-1992), in which he was the mayor of Jellystone Township.
Hokey and Ding-a-Ling appeared together in the 1972 TV-movie Yogi's Ark Lark, which was part of The ABC Saturday Superstar Movie and also the pilot for Yogi's Gang.
In the 1988 TV-movie The Good, the Bad, and Huckleberry Hound, Hokey played the mayor of a western town called Two-Bit.
Like many Hanna-Barbera characters, Hokey and Ding-a-Ling have each appeared on Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law:
- Hokey made non-speaking cameo appearances in the episodes "Peanut Puberty," "Evolutionary War," "Harvey Birdman, Juror in Court," and "The Death of Harvey."
- Ding-a-Ling appeared as a plaintiff in the episode "SPF," and reprised this role in "The Death of Harvey"; he's also seen in a brief flashback in the episode "Identity Theft."
