[edit] Destinations
Heavylift operates both scheduled and charter cargo services between Australia, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. In the future it has plans to expand its operations further into the Pacific and to Vanuatu.[1]
Currently, Heavylift Cargo operates an international freight service to Honiara, in the Solomon Islands.
[edit] Fleet
The Heavylift Cargo Airlines fleet includes [1] :
Other aircraft:
Heavylift is the operator of the world's only flying Short Belfast. A second Belfast is being refurbished at Southend Airport for delivery to Australia. Both of these aircraft were operated by namesake company HeavyLift, a former UK-based major freight airline specialising in outsize cargo. During 2006 work was also underway at Bournemouth Airport to refurbish another ex-HeavyLift aircraft, the unique Conroy CL-44-0; however it has been reported on various aviation internet message boards that this aircraft will not now be delivered. A feature of the airline is that it's aircraft are not registered in Australia, but in the Philippines. Although the main base is Brisbane, when not flying the aircraft are usually parked at Cairns Airport.
The company has plans in place to acquire one McDonnell Douglas DC-10 and a B747-200F wet leased from Kalitta may join the fleet for routes to Shanghai and on to Europe. [1] [2]
