The Greater Painted Snipe, Rostratula benghalensis, is a species of wader in the family Rostratulidae. It is found in marshes in Africa, India and South-east Asia. These birds do not migrate and mate in a period between April and July. They eat grubs and insects mainly but if struggling for food may eat lizards.
