Gothenburg urban area

The Gothenburg urban area (Göteborgs tätort) is the second largest of the 1,400 localities or urban areas in Sweden. As such it has no administrative or political significance, but is a geographical and statistical entity. The administration is carried out independently by the respective municipalities in which this multimunicipal locality is situated.
It is the seat of Göteborg Municipality, Partille Municipality and Mölndal Municipality.
Gothenburg urban area stretches over four municipalities in Västra Götaland County. The population as of 2000 is 495,849.
